National Kickboxing Hero Sudhir Saxena Honoured at REC India Ltd’s Blood Donation Camp in Gurugram

Gurugram, June 14, 2025 – In a remarkable display of sportsmanship and social service, Sudhir Saxena, India’s celebrated international kickboxer, was honoured today as the Guest of Honour at a Blood Donation Camp hosted by REC India Ltd. The event, held at the company’s corporate office in Gurugram, was graced by REC’s Managing Director and CEO, Shri Jitendra Srivastava, IAS, who personally felicitated Sudhir for his contributions to sports and society.

The camp, set up at the Ground Floor, REC Auditorium (E-Block), was part of REC’s commitment to public health and community engagement. With employees, volunteers, medical teams, and blood donors coming together for this noble cause, the presence of Sudhir Saxena added inspiration and enthusiasm to the event.

A Fighter in the Ring, A Leader in Life

Sudhir Saxena has steadily emerged as one of India’s top combat athletes. Hailing from Lahasani village in Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh, he has earned accolades for India by winning a bronze medal at the Asian Kickboxing Championships in Cambodia and most recently, a silver medal at the 4th India Open Kickboxing Championshipheld in New Delhi.

But Sudhir’s journey is about more than medals. A passionate advocate for community development, he has been involved in various philanthropic efforts across India, working with multiple NGOs to support rural education, healthcare, and youth empowerment. His dedication to social welfare makes him not just a champion in sport, but also in service.

Honoured by REC for Inspiring India

In his welcome address, Shri Jitendra Srivastava, IAS, praised Sudhir’s achievements both on and off the mat:

“It is an honour to recognize someone who wears the Indian colours with pride and uses his platform to uplift others. Sudhir Saxena embodies the values of perseverance, humility, and service.”

Sudhir, moved by the warm reception, emphasized the importance of civic participation:

“I have fought battles in the ring, but the real heroes are the ones who step up to help others. Donating blood is one of the simplest and most powerful ways to save a life. I’m proud to be part of this cause with REC.”

Strength in Support: Family, Friends, and Foundation

Behind Sudhir’s success is a circle of unwavering support. He credits his father, Mr. Suresh Saxena, for instilling a strong foundation of discipline and values. His wife, Priyanka Gautam, has been a consistent source of emotional and practical support through the highs and lows of his career.

Sudhir also thanked his long-time friends and well-wishers who have stood by him throughout his journey. He acknowledged the instrumental role played by the Gauravi Foundation, especially Mahesh Verma and Summit Chaudhry, in supporting his missions—both athletic and humanitarian.

Additionally, Sudhir expressed gratitude toward Punjab National Bank (PNB), which has recognized and supported his efforts, including a felicitation on Republic Day by PNB MD & CEO Shri Ashok Chandra, further validating the impact of institutions that invest in sporting and social talent.

A Call to Action for the Youth

Sudhir’s message to the audience was clear: “Use your strength for a purpose beyond yourself.” He spoke to young volunteers and employees about fitness, mental health, and the importance of serving the community in whatever way possible—be it through sports, donations, or acts of kindness.

As a role model to aspiring athletes, his story of rising from a small village to the international stage has become a beacon of hope for many. But equally important is his example as a responsible citizen using his voice for the greater good.

More Than an Honour – A Movement

Sudhir’s involvement in the blood donation camp represents a growing trend of Indian athletes taking leadership roles in public initiatives. By bringing visibility to causes like blood donation, he is helping to normalize compassion, health consciousness, and community responsibility among the masses.

As the camp concluded, with dozens of successful blood donations and heartfelt applause from the REC community, one thing was clear—Sudhir Saxena is not just a guest of honour; he’s a national inspiration.
