Four women stripped, dragged and then beaten on charges of theft in a shop in Pakistan :

In a video that surfaced on social media, four women, including a teenager, were seen pleading with people around them to cover their bodies but were beaten up with sticks.

Four women, including a teenager, were stripped of their clothes and dragged into the street and beaten up by a group of people in Pakistan’s Punjab province, accusing them of stealing from a shop. The incident took place on Monday in Faisalabad, about 180 km from Lahore.

Women were seen crying and requesting people to let them go but to no avail. They were paraded naked on the streets for an hour. Punjab Police swung into action after some videos of the incident went viral on social media.

A Punjab Police spokesperson said in a tweet on Tuesday, “We have arrested five persons in connection with this unfortunate incident.”
He said that the police are probing the matter and all the accused involved will be brought to justice. An FIR has been registered against five suspects and several others under relevant provisions of law.

According to the case, the victims told that they had gone to the Bawa Chak market in Faisalabad to collect garbage.
In the complaint, the women have said, ‘We were thirsty and Usman went inside the electric store and asked for a water bottle. But its owner, Saddam, accused us of entering the shop to steal. Saddam and others started beating us.’

‘Then they stripped naked and dragged them and beat them. They also made our videos after stripping… none of the mob tried to stop the culprits stop this atrocity.’
Police told that they were called by someone living in the area, after which they immediately reached there and arrested the owner of the electric store and three employees working there.

Police said that the Faisalabad Central Police has registered an FIR against the shop owner and employee besides eight others for misbehaving with the woman.
The police arrested the shop owners Saddam, Faisal, Zaheer Anwar and Fakir Hussain and registered a case against the accused under section 354A-509-147-149 TP. Raids are being conducted to arrest the rest of the accused.
