Short note : Why is the sunrise and sunset red?

The sun is whitish during the day, but why does it look red in the morning and evening? The natural light of the sun is a transparent light with no color as a whole, but it contains seven colors of so-called rainbow light: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple.

The altitude of the sun decreases and the sunlight in the morning and evening near the horizon passes through the layer of the atmosphere longer. Then, it hits the water vapor and dust in the atmosphere until the sun rays reach people’s eyes, and the blue light with a short wavelength is scattered, and only the remaining red light reaches the ground.

By the way, the reason why the sunset looks more red than the sunrise is because the air is dirtier in the evening than in the morning, so more blue light is scattered. Then, you can see the red sunset in the city where the air is dirty rather than in the countryside where the air is clear.
